Business Financing Comparison

Business Line of Credit
vs. Term Loan

Two of the most common forms of business financing -- but they work very differently. A line of credit gives you flexible, revolving access with interest charged only on what you draw. A term loan gives you a fixed lump sum at a predictable monthly payment. This calculator shows the true total cost of each structure side by side so you can choose the right tool for your specific financing need.

✓
Total interest cost comparison — Model the full interest cost of a LOC draw vs. a term loan over the same period -- accounting for your draw percentage and interest-only draw window.
✓
Draw period modeling — Set the percentage of the line you draw, the length of the interest-only period, and the repayment term. The LOC amortizes the outstanding balance after the draw period ends.
✓
True LOC cost vs. stated rate — LOC rates look low on paper, but utilization and draw period length significantly affect total cost. We calculate the effective cost based on how you actually use the line.
✓
Year-by-year amortization — View a full amortization schedule for both the LOC repayment and the term loan, including principal, interest, and remaining balance for every month.
✓
When each option wins — The calculator identifies which structure produces a lower total cost for your specific scenario -- and shows you the dollar difference.
